If there is one thing I'm a sucker for it is a nicely worded song title; 'Jeremy Kyle Is A Marked Man' for example, just brilliant. Or my favourite: 'Ringo Starr - 2nd Best Drummer In The Beatles'. These are just a handful of what's on offer from the complex instrumental rock Birmingham four piece Blakfish. Not only do they have intelligent, witty, sarcastic and individual song tiltes, they also have the audio complexity to match. ' If The Good Lord Had Intended Us To Walk He Wouldn't Of' is no different.

With over 200 shows under their belt and a track spot on Kerrang! 2009 they sure are blazing it up this year and prepping up to release their highly anticipated [and an Altsounds 'Cream of the Crop'] debut album 'Champions'. Blakfish make a blend of math rock coupled with screamo temperaments all engraved onto a solid song-writing platform.

The closest possible resemblance to any other band is three piece rock outfit Reuben. The structure, guitar lines, screaming vocals and drum patterns are darn similar, so Blakfish's sound is nothing new. That said it's great to hear the Midlands still has a small amount of musical talent.

'If The Good Lord Had Intended Us To Walk He Wouldn't Of' contains a plethora of fast paced Biffy Clyro musical guitar patterns. During the verses, each guitar seems to talk to each other in a back and forth motion. The stops and starts are pre 'Puzzle' Biffy and sink into the track with no uneasy messiness. There is no question about these lads, they certainly know how to write complicated melodies.

An uncomfortable cover is included in the single; King's Of Leon's 'Charmer'. Blakfish take a chainsaw and rip through it with screaming vocals that seem a little false. Maybe they should have saved this one for the live sets.

This is just a taster of the material on forth coming 'Champions' and I can't bloody wait.

Listen To: 'If The Good Lord Had Intended Us To Walk He Wouldn't Of'

Tracks:
1. 'If The Good Lord Had Intended Us To Walk He Wouldn't Of'
2. Charmer (Kings Of Leon Cover)

I hate the fact that they have used the word 'of' instead of 'have' in the song title. So many people make this mistake and it really grinds my gears haha.
