Rob Glennon - Electric Boogaloo Lab [EP]

Rob Glennon - Electric Boogaloo Lab [EP]

Bastardo Electrico Records

The 21st century seems to be an increasingly fascinating time for music. New sounds are popping up where they are least expected, incredible new sound effects are being splashed on anything that they possibly could be and cross genres have virtually become an everyday occurrence. The Electro / Techno scene seems to be no exception to these factors, as Rob Glennon has shown us with this latest offering, ‘Electronic Boogaloo Lab’.

The technology of music has not been forgotten as the world has evolved around us, and Rob Glennon’s newest creative monster seems to have taken full advantage of this. With some incredibly well made and well produced industrial sounding drum loops, the album is driven with a propelling motion from start to finish, giving non-stop rhythmic grooves to the highest standard of the funk and dance scenes, all of which are brilliantl layered with some of the most powerful lead synths know to man. The personal high point of this EP has to be the track ‘Suil Master’. The pulsing and almost rhythmic drone like pad used takes the album out of its relaxing comfort zone and into a slightly Sci-fi kind of mood, brilliantly done.

Even if you are not a fan of techno or dance music in general, checking out ‘Electronic Boogaloo lab’ simply for the creative aspect and knowledge of music technology is a must for any music lover. The over all relaxed sound of the release makes it an easy and enjoyably listen, unlike a lot of mainstream and well known dance / techno acts that would be a bit out of place when they are not played in the clubs.

Here we have a brilliant mix of old school dance / electro mixed with the qualities that today’s new music offers. The entire EP is delivered completely drenched in some of the industries most creative sound effects and dynamics. The result of which has left us with a brilliant and enjoyable piece of music.
