September, October and November are set to be a busy few months for this UK based band. Gigs that include the BBC “Introducing” Stage at the Reading Festival and the Leeds Festival mean that Chickenhawk have garnered the praise and respect that they probably deserve.
Chickenhawk are a shouty, heavy, heaving rock band that make music that is “big, brutal……and not for fence sitters”. Chickenhawk have probably amassed a following due to their punchy, loud and aggressive sound. Rightfully so, but I, unfortunately am not a fan.
Objectively “A. Or Not” is a three track single of straight up Rock music. High on energy, high on noise and high on crispy, distorted production. Featuring some driving percussion, customary distorted lead lines and some nice middle eight breaks, Chickenhawk have found a formula that works and have stuck to it. Chickenhawk sound like they enjoy their sound and are probably an impressive live act with a following that mirrors their highly driven, heaving sound.
Fans of Chickenhawk will continue to mosh their heads like chickens do. The on the fence listeners will probably continue to misunderstand them, and their music.
Probably what Chickenhawk wanted from the outset then?
