House music has always been relatively popular and will probably continue to be popular for quite a while. It will never hurt anyone, it will never be ground breaking, but it will always keep a rooms conversation flowing along nicely without offending or intruding anyone. Let's refer to it is the perfect party music.
With 'Serenity' Nara has released the title single from her debut album “Serenity”. The title track 'Serenity' features the line “peaceful in my mind, it makes me want to dance”. Although I cannot completely concur, 'Serenity' is not a bad song. Nara is a very able vocalist and 'Serenity' features more than one vocal harmony and some nice production elements.
'I AM' is the second track on the single and is probably a better song. Interestingly 'I AM' is also featured on the album "Serenity" and features the lyric, “going around spreading love wherever I can”. From that you get the impression that Nara is striving to produce nice, fluffy “day time” music that is uplifting and positive. All good then?!
'I AM' has a slightly more Pop / R&B vibe compared to the more dance oriented 'Serenity' and it shows a slightly more mature side to Nara. 'I AM' also features a nicely restrained brass section that helps the flow of the song and adds a little sparkle to the overall feeling of the title track single 'Serenity'.
There is more to come from Nara, I am sure. Her debut album of the same name shows glimpses of a very, very bright future. If she can plough the depths of her more complex emotions we will have a highly intelligent and well packaged artist on our hands.
As its stands Nara is one to watch.
