InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] 1 Attachment(s) InMe have been kicking around for a while now (since I was in high school anyway) and have never really reached the creative and commercial peak they seemed destined for at the beginning of the noughties. If 'Single Of The Weak' (fucking awful pun by the way) is any indication, the world at large is better off without them. Seemingly abandoning their nu-grunge roots for a sickening combination of pop-punk, casio keyboards and embarrassing backing vocals is a move that I doubt will pay off. The song limps along like a dying cat and the middle 8 actually sounds like something you'd hear during the 'special stage' on a Sonic the Hedgehog game. There is not one element of this song I could praise in good consciousness. It's just horrible, truly nasty, cynical and (most damning of all) instantly forgettable. The song might well be an ironic dig at the stagnant Radio 1 playlist, but by conforming to what they THINK the mainstream wants they have in fact turned in something so soulless, it would make a Calvin Harris single sound like 'Born To Run'. The worst song I've heard this year....yes EVEN WORSE than Papa Roach. ![]() |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] Wow harsh review, but knowing you deadletteroffice your response is likely to be fair. Good work as always. |
Ouch, I've got the full album on its way... |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] For all that your not loving it, this is a great review.. I'm trusting your judgement on previous reviews like Chris. |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] InMe are fucking awful - so thanks for persuading at least two people not to waste any of their lives listening to it. The only glimmer of joy they have ever given anyone I know is that my mate used to chuckle to himself every time he walked past a girl at Reading festival with InMe across her chest. Not that I would want to encourage anyone to purchase any of their merch. |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] Underdose was an ok song... but when the best song you ever do was a B-side... (Ruins) it goes downhill from there (at least for Inme) They had potential and seemed to go (well they being Dave) a bit pretentious! |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] Really? No praise? The only problem I have with the song is that it's too ironic for it's own good. Other than that in my opinion it's a good catchy song with better guitar work then most recent bands offerings. Besides the whole point of the song is that it's suppose to sound like what the 'mainstream' wants to hear while at the same time slagging it off. Though the song is definately one of the weakest of the new album. Picking the ironic/joke song as the lead single is quite puzzling, and does mislead those less informed. The fact you think the band have turned pop/punk shows all you did was listen to the single without doing much background check on the new album, which is in actual fact much heavier and darker as a whole when compared to their previous albums. |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] Yeesh, you can smell the Napalm a mile off here... Anybody got any burgers? It'd just be a shame to let the fire go to waste, that's all. As much of a Stake job as it is, I quite like this myself. Only niggle I'd say is maybe a little more in Why it's so poor, as there was only really the middle 8 that got explored, but if that Sonic comparison is anything to go by, then maybe it's for the best, and boy the title is a rather poor pun. |
Re: InMe - Single Of The Weak [Single] I never gave In-me a chance, but i will agree with the others that your review judgment is a good reference point. One of my mates listens to them and he has a shit musical pallet. Quote:
