Dub Pistols feat. Lindy Layton & Rodney P - I'm In Love [Single]

Widely recognised (probably) as the band most likely to gratuitously use the word "Geezer" now that Karl Hyde is on the wagon. The idea of Dub Pistols big-beat-meets-ska cocktail sounds as attractive in late 2009 as the back of a Stratford lock up. But don't throw away that pork pie hat just yet, as teaming up with Lindy Layton (most famous for her vocals on Beats International's 'Dub Be Good To Me' from way back in 1990) and London Posse veteran Rodney P appears to have breathed new life into all concerned.

Not a million light years away from the likes of previous staples like The Problem Is - bouncy trumpet and dub-lite fx, all underpinned with rocksteady guitar - Layton adds sex to the mix (well, you wouldn't want to shag Terry Hall now, would you?) and the result is effortless pop which you'll find singing to yourself at inappropriate moments (I did).

Alright, cynics - maybe it is so far, so Yates (two for one drinks every Tuesday, join us on Thursday nite for curry klub) - but if you, like me, shudder at the thought of Lily Allen doing 'Smile' in that tuneless whine that disembowels dogs at three hundred paces, worry not, because Dub Pistols have a version for ya. Those particularly interested in DJing will want to hear the blippy, tempo blasted Foamo mix, those interested in dubstep will want to hear Cotti's riddims, whilst those particularly interested in removing people's knickers should just head straight for the closing I'm In Dub.
