Fans of old 21st century pop-punk are in for a real treat as 8th Time Luckie give us their latest release. The Surrey based 4-piece deliver their very own blend of distorted punk guitars, layered with vocals sure to have anyone singing along.

This release is their second and self titled EP and is full of songs that will put any one in a good mood. 8th Time Luckie take pride in listing their rock hero’s such as Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy to name a few; their influences are strongly present in 8th Time Luckie’s music.

From the opening track ‘Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right (but they do make us even)’ to the very last track ‘Paper Notes’ we are thrown into pure pop-punk quality and all round ‘cheerful’ songs. It makes a collection of tracks that could easily pass of as a soundtrack to any one of the American Pie movies.

That being said it’s still very basic and could be received as "same old, same old" by a lot of music critics and listeners. The typical use of power chord guitar structures and the overall ‘skate-rock’ feel may be seen as a bit dull by most. Although you have probably heard this sound before from countless bands it’s still worth checking out. Just because something has been done before and doesn’t break through any barriers and new ideas doesn’t mean you cant enjoy it.

The self titled 8th Time Luckie EP is a fun release and that’s enough for me. However, I wouldn’t expect this to have a strong lastability with many listeners but still consider looking into it as it is a good listen never the less.
