Preston - Dressed to Kill [Single]
 

Preston may not have been well known at all, a few music fans may have known him as a member of the British group ‘The Ordinary Boys’, but he was far from a house hold name at this point. A lot of people now associate him with Celebrity Big Brother, an ‘All-Star’ version of the British Channel 4 show that pollutes our televisions and gives us even more reasons to venture outside. Although I personally despise this show, it has been something of a holy grail for ‘celebrities’ needing to kick start or rejuvinate their careers, and Preston seems to be no exception.

It has been a while since he was on the show but now it seems he is finally stepping out from behind the curtain after working for the past year on his new solo album ‘Forever Whatever’. 'Dressed To Kill' is the first release off this record. Keeping true to Preston’s ‘Ordinary Boys’ roots, 'Dressed to Kill' is a moderately paced brit-pop monster from start to finish. Seeming to produce an 80’s sound, 'Dressed to Kill' seems to contain all the ingredients of a good pop song. The techno and slightly Calvin Harris feel to the synthesizers that have been used ensure that it appeals to both ‘Pop’ fans as well as those of us who love a bit of Dance and Electro.

I will admit then when I was sent this CD I did expect the worst. I even went and said a few bad words out loud as I’m not really a fan of Preston possibly because he has the aforementioned Big Brother Stigma thrust upon him by the media. I will also admit that 'Dressed to Kill' is a good listen and seems to be the stuff that modern day chart toppers are made off, and I can personally see this going down a storm with the masses.

Seriously! This mega fast fame tosh winds me up!! Big Brother, X-Factor - whaaat - get real talent, do it the best way, work hard for it and then do the red carpet personality dive..when people actually give more of a cr*p.

This song yes its main-stream heroin, it will make cash but nah..not for me!

I saw him live years ago ( under duress) , he just came across like a complete c*ck, a fame seeking wannabe, if ever a band had an apt name it was the Ordinary Boys . If you really had any integrity would you really go on BB and adorn the pages of 'Hello' ?

I have to admit I have no idea who this Preston guy is but after listening to the single, I can safely say I find it boring. From the predictable synth and beat to the unimaginative lyrics and vocals. It does nothing for me to be honest. I do think this review is a tad too nice but I can see what you're trying to say about it being instantly satisfying for the masses.
