Ark Recordings
This is my first encounter with Alberta Cross' music, and I have to say that this sort of stuff is right up my street!
Not knowing much about Alberta Cross, I did a little research - MySpace, official website, Google, Twitter. There was very
little biographical information on these sites, but according to the Alberta Cross MySpace page the band hail from Brooklyn. So unfortunately that's about all I can tell you at the moment, except that Alberta Cross will be touring the UK in November.
Right, on to the single 'ATX' and I can lovingly tell you that it's rather good! I am trying to draw a comparison with bands that are perhaps a little better known, well, to me at least but I can't quite think of who they remind me of as it does sound a little familiar in places.
'ATX' has chugging guitars, a keyboard driven melody, and a nailed down tight rhythm section plus it has a very catchy chorus. A chorus that could be lifted straight from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the early 80's, maybe from bands like Grand Prix or Diamond Head.
'ATX' by Alberta Cross is amongst the best recent music I have heard in a very long time. Hopefully I will be lucky enough to get my
hands on their debut full length album "Broken Side Of Time". Equally, I hope I get to catch them on their forthcoming UK tour, the dates for which are:-
11 Nov - The Cooler Bristol, UK
12 Nov - Cockpit 3 Leeds, UK
13 Nov - Captain’s Rest Glasgow, UK
15 Nov - Ruby’s Lounge Manchester, UK
16 Nov - Birmingham Bar Academy Birmingham, UK
17 Nov - Bush Hall London, UK
Go and Buy it now! It's available for a mere 69 british pennies from Amazon.co.uk
