The Chemists began life in a pub and you would possibly assume that this really isn't the environment to start a creative force what with the pork scratchings breeding behind the bar and the sticky floor thwarting your efforts to get home; but, on the flip-side it says that there could be something of the gang mentality to The Chemists and that their tunes might just be the sort for rowdy, lusting teenagers to try and desperately get served to. Both these arguments hold true.

The Chemists are clearly quite a tight little band as 'A Love Like No-One Else' fizzes with energy and is in your face with immediacy sounding like it had time travelled here from 1982 and landed on that dude from The Killers with the freaky hairdo and eye-liner. 'A Love Like No-one Else' bares all the hallmarks of those early Killers tracks that held your attention before they decided to go all poncey. It's got those plinking synthesizers and pounding drum rhythm, whilst the vocals from Johnny Benn seem thrown at the song with some desperation. Not in an X-Factor pick me, pick me way but more a kind of need to get them out of my system. As for the chorus it's a fairly straightforward, shout out loud fare that would be deemed suitable after that pub session.

However, it's a tried and tested formula thus providing nothing diverse or particularly sparkly new for my ears. It's nice to get away from the generic indie sound once in a while and The Chemists maybe need to find that deviance.
