As much as I love to fine dine on delights such as sautéedSigur Ros or pan-seared Sunset Rubdown with a Pink Floyd Roux, it’s always comforting to know there’s the fast, easy options of The Black Lips burger or The Strokes sandwich...and now - Nodzzz noodles. Need to rock on the run? Nodzzz’s self-titled debut album is just for you, with its ten tracks clocking in at just under 16 minutes – think and you’ll miss it. In age when your average music listener no longer has the required attention span for whole albums, outstaying your welcome just isn’t an option and San Franciscan three-piece Nodzzz certainly can’t be accused of that with this effort. Each track is a (very) short sharp burst of garage rock, delivered with wink and a smile; this is fun fun fun ‘til your daddy takes your ipod away.

Sharing the same playful spirit of Envelopes, early Weezer, and Modern Lovers, along with their lo-fi recording process and pop nouse, Nodzzz have created an album (just about) that never once takes itself seriously – even enough to stick around for very long. “Is She There?”, “In the City (Contact High)”, “Controlled Karaoke” and “I Can’t Wait” (this and “Simple Song” read like manifestos for the whole album) are probably the finest examples of what Nodzzz are all about, but then you hardly need to “dip in” to Nodzzz (if you did then you’d instantly hit the bottom anyway).

A directness of melody and short attention span ADD up to a time-tickin’-nugget of a debut which if nothing else should leave plenty of time for more to come. Nodzzz won’t change your life, but it may change 16 minutes of it.

Track List:

1 Is She There
2 Highway Memorial Shrine
3 In the City (Contact High)
4 Simple Song
5 Controlled Karaoke
6 I Have Bad News
7 Losing My Accent
8 I Can't Wait
9 I Was My Parents Vision
10 City Has No Eyes
