There is no better way to prepare for your independently released debut album, than by unleashing a snippet of dawdling reflection that’s backed to the hilt by hanging guitars and rubbing percussion. This helps to draw out Jordan Spiers’ heartily yearning vocals that at times, mirror those of Geoff Rickly (Thursday).

Through ‘Home Run (1997)’, Flood Of Red has manufactured a well built mini-epic of a song that starts off with a marching emo stride. Then Spiers flits his range from being in control all the way to instilling a haunting panic into his vocal stride, before calmly looking back over life’s storm.

This Airdrie, eerie mood melting six troupe, gives more than an indication that their forthcoming debut album, "Leave Everything Behind" will be like rock’s equivalent tumble dryer in the sense that moods will no doubt be tossed around willy-nilly, but they will be coming out clean the other side.
