Screwloose- A Beginners Guide To Life [EP]

1 Attachment(s)
Screwloose are a band from my neck of the woods in Stoke and in a town in which bands seem to fall into four camps of: pop-punk, classic rock, deathcore and Gothic rock these actually try to be different from this norm with their style more being a mixture of Reuben influence along with Biffy Clyro.

Given that Screwloose were at least trying to be slightly different from the Stoke norm I was very intrigued to see how this EP was going to sound and annoyingly the opener reminded me of a really pop punk sound which made me think ‘oh no another band that turned out different to how I had thought they were going to sound.’

Luckily the next two tracks ‘A Beginners Guide to Life’ and ‘Out On Friday?’ showed the Biffy influence more and had more motivation for me to enjoy the EP. The lyrics on show here are actually quite positive about how to run life, friends and other things. The closer ‘Eight’ is different as it’s an acoustic ballad which showcases the vocalist’s range quite well and I can see why they’re doing well outside of Stoke-on-Trent too (which is a rarity for the majority of Stoke based bands) even if it’s only 2:02.

A nice EP to start. Screwloose will hopefully they’ll get bigger as time goes on.

Good honest review, the track you don't like is my favourite, Stll I suppose that's what opinions are for.

We never said that was the EP cover - Chris even said they need to get some decent promo photos done (about the picture of them "arsing about").
