Special Ops - Through The Heart of The Infidel [Album]

Oarfin

Ever get a feeling of deja vu?

Special Ops's latest album gave me the biggest case of deja vu that I have experienced in a long while with it's mixture of Megadeth, Fear Factory without the synths and the production on the album is by the guy that has done the Nashville Pussy albums. It's tricky to review this album for being different as when you experience moments that make you think that Special Ops actually are better than just OK the Megadeth influence kicks you in the head again.

In fact this has been my third time listening to "Through The Heart of The Infidel" to try and get a good balance and understanding of it but once again the Deja vu keeps hitting. There are some moments such as the beginning of 'What You Did today' that make you think maybe there's a chance but then the vocals kick in. Anyone that says that this guy has a unique voice of his own has not heard any metal from the past 5 years. The guitars though do have promise so this saves this album from falling into Trashcan Fodder territory.

Frankly if you like a second rate Megadeth mixed with Slipknot 1999 era the go out and pick up a copy of "Through The Heart of The Infidel". If you are someone that wants metal to get better and are looking for some fresh new metal then I suggest you look elsewhere.
