Glasstone Records
People who have read some of my other reviews would know that I’m usually very positive about anything I get passed my way. I can assure you though that there isn’t much positivity going on during In Absence Of Fear by Neverborne.
Don't get me wrong, I’m sure that there is a market for this type of music out there but unfortunately, I am not a part of it. Hard and fast metal is popular in some circles of music fans, even enjoyed by them but I’m sorry In Absence Of Fear by Neverborne is just noise, and not much else. My hat actually goes off to Neverborne for making a record that could easily be mistaken for one long continuous song as all tracks sound so similar its hard to distinguish one for the next. Each song is just dropped tuned guitars accompanied by 3 minutes of noise and screams.
I know how much hard work goes into forming a band, writing songs, playing shows, and ultimately getting a label to sign you, that’s what makes it hard to be negative when writing reviews but this was so non-enjoyable that it was easy to get past that. As I said, I’m well aware that this is a negative review as my taste in music doesn’t contain tolerance for this style and I know that there is a following for this genre mainly because of the fact that Neverborne have come as far as they have.
If you’re a fan of music that sounds like it is just a recording of someone smashing up a packet of crisps, then step into my office, this one is definitely for you. If however, you feel that you want to listen to something you can enjoy, as well as understand, then it’s probably in your best interest that you move along.
