Officer Kicks certainly have been busy over the summer. Playing a number of festivals over the UK including Bestival and the world renowned Glastonbury Festival to name a few. Not to mention a tour of their own and being signed to a UK and Japanese label earlier in the year. Things are certainly looking up for these guys.

As well as the recent hectic events above, Officer kicks have launched into September with the release of their new single ‘The Kraken.’ This track is the very definition of what we today would describe as Indie or Brit-Rock in a nutshell. ‘The Kraken’ is a brilliant example of the fast-paced and incredibly popular rock scene that’s dominating the UK in more of a mainstream fashion these days. It doesn’t show any signs of its popularity slowing down any time soon.

'The Kraken' isn’t exactly breaking down the barriers of originality or anything like that, but you will enjoy it, as it’s an entertaining and overall great track. Just because something isn’t new or original doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy it. Better that than expect it to be a disappointment, its best just to appreciate it for what it is. ‘The Kraken’ is definitly a great track there’s no mistaking that, however, the second track, ‘Mona Lisa’ isn’t all that. It seems to step away from the upbeat 'The Kraken' and tends to reach more into the slower and duller side of indie rock. It does sound incredibly similar to the works of Chris Cornell of Audioslave. This one would probably be worth a miss when compared to ‘The Kraken’.

To sum up, if you are into your Brit-style indie rock then Check out 'The Kraken.' The b-side track will almost definitely be something of a let down to everyone.
