Heist or Hit Records
Vocalist Ann Yu leads her musical army Lovelikefire into the 21st century with debut UK Album "Tear Ourselves Away." Lovelifefire come to us from the gambling state of Las Vegas and with friends like the Killers offering support, it will come as no surprise to us listeners that this will be the next big thing to pollute the air waves.
Lovelikefire seem to take a strong influence from their close friends The Killers and it shows through on a lot of the tracks on offer here. Each song sounds like it could have been written or at least co-written by their pals and mentors, providing that eerie pop/rock sound that has become ever increasingly popular with the masses.
From the calming and twisted opening track ‘William’ to the albums closer ‘Everything Must Settle,’ this album is an enjoyable listen. Lovelikefire's "Tear Ourselves Away" is an album you could listen to no matter what your mood, and is definitely full of some musically brilliant ideas. If your getting sick of bands like The Killers, then maybe you may want to steer clear of this one, as it sounds similar to the point where the only difference could simply be the fact that it is sung by a female vocalist. However, if you are a fan of this style, then its worth a look at least. You may not be particularly exhilarated or shocked, but its definitely going to be worth a look. The twang-like guitars provide an overall Indie feel to the album, at times giving it a vibe similar to that of a rock album, but also keeping its pop-like edge to ensure it still has radio friendly values.
As I said, if your getting sick of The Killers styled music, or even if you just like something with a bit more of a bite or edge to it, then your probably not going to find anything worth listening to here. If you don’t fall into this category, then check it out, you may find something you like.
