"Live For Today. Hope For Tomorrow". Is that supposed to be cheesy? Instead of a track-listing on the rear of the 'Brave Enough To Fail' EP sleeve; More Than Life choose some thought provoking words. Original? Um, debatable, the same goes for their painful action packed songs.

Immediately Gallows spring out in an aggressive fourplay of crunchy guitars and gritty shouting. This is a weak effort to build something original to the Hardcore circuit. What is with these kids today? So bloody angry, what have they got to be angry about, GSCE results have been at their highest no? Well i must be wrong. With lyrics like "I'm only 19 years old but there's so much pain in here", "FUCK THIS PAIN" and "... my heart has already died, I'm nothing but a faceless name" just shows how much anguish this band are toying with. Genuine or not you can actually give them credit for some of the creative writing for a young band. This is almost poetry yet it doesn't work well as a band in general.

There is still hope for More Than Life. They show alot of potential in small segments. Track six "Fear" opens with a guitar melody that conjures up images of Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Under The Bridge". It is just gagging to carry on into a melodic heartfelt piece, but no, straight back into a war zone. The same situation occurs on the opening track of 'Brave Enough To Fail'; "Aperature". The intro is quite gripping, it's atmospheric and it builds up to an instrumental waterfall of heavy beats, tremolo distortion and head banging wonderment. This is by far the best track of the whole EP.

Throwing all the pain and anguish aside More Than Life show potential to become more of an Alternative instrumental rock piece rather than another run of the mill Hardcore band. The odds of that happening are 100/1 but i guess it's a wait and see as they are currently in the studio writing new material. Maybe we should tell them to ditch the Hardcore and tune it down to Softcore?
