Always surprising and never a dull moment, The Beautiful Taste ensures an experience both artistic and rocking with "Of Our Cornea." As sickening an image as the title may procure, it’s nothing short of a description of the avante garde ideology that The Beautiful Taste has constructed with their debut release. Sound and imagery blend together in a synethetic fashion to bring one of the more interesting 28 minutes and 13 seconds of Rock I have heard in a while.

From the first track 'To Go,' raw power and emotion collide to create a tension that’s never released, never yielding and carried on throughout. This all blends into the understated and bitter sweet track 'Bread, Coffee, and Bed' which is a ballad number and is heavily accented with airy synth tracks, psychedelic vocal expansions, and a mellow, crystalline guitar tone.

One of the strangest rockers on "Of Our Cornea" is the satirically named 'I’m Not Rock.' Recalling days of Neil Young, "I’m Not Rock" has the excitement of a classic stomper, while landing solidly in the halls of weird art rock and it’s all in the vocals. The intensity spiralling down to a lurching stutter. The originality and lyricism behind Galante’s vocal style accounts for much of The Beautiful Taste’s avante garde leanings.

Currently working with noted visual artist Timothy B. Layden, The Beautiful Taste are expanding the idea of music as a static art form unto itself. Instead of an island, their creating an artistic archipelago. Combining the visual and the auditory in a working vehicle. The Beautiful Taste is preparing for the follow up to "Of Our Cornea" right now which is one that promises to be as invigorating as their debut.
