David Gray - Fugitive [Single] As I've already discussed the song in my album review I'll keep this brief. The lead single from his 7th studio album, 'Draw The Line'; 'Fugitive' is a strident piano ballad with one of Gray's most immediate melodies. The chorus is simple but effective and the lyrics (though straying a little too close to 'Take That' sentiment at times) work well in the context of the song. It's hard to know what else to say about a song this self-explanatory. In terms of style it barely strays from the path Gray carved out with 2005's 'The One I Love' but this time with a little more swagger. Gray's new band are obviously trying to impress their master here with assured performances all-round with special mention going to Neil McColls life-affirming guitar solo two-thirds of the way in. It's a fine song that doesn't break any ground and certainly doesn't rank as one of David Gray's best tracks, but it'll sound right at home on radio 2. Altsounds TV Video |
