Hill Country Revue is the most rocking blues based country band I have heard in a long while. The band was formed by Cody Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars in 2008 and it features Chris Chew, Kirk Smithhart, Ed “Hot” Cleveland and Daniel Coburn.

Every member of Hill Country Revue is a master of his craft. Kirk Smithart, Hill Country Revue’s lead guitarist was awarded the Albert King award for Best Guitarist by the Blues Foundation at the young age of 19, so you know the man can play some killer blues riffs. The overall musical talent of the rest of the band on "Make Your Move" is phenomenal and it shows on every track. 'Georgia Women' and 'Growing Up In Mississippi' highlight the southern life these men experienced as youngsters in the South. The slower but poignant 'You Can Make It' is for all of us who are going through a trial or tribulation in life. 'Dirty Shirt' is the song that cries commitment to a doubtful lover, “hanging in there like a dirty shirt.”

"Make A Move" really displays the high levels of talent Hill Country Revue boasts among its members. With that being said, it doesn’t have a single memorable track. While the countless guitar riffs and drum rallies are impressive they permeate every song to point that, with the exception of the slower 'You Can Make It,' sound exactly the same. Most of the songs lack a solid structure which made it difficult for me as a listener to really get into the music. "Make A Move" plays more like a blues jam session than it does a studio album; therein lies Hill Country Revue’s greatest strength and the album’s greatest weakness.

My Three Favourite tracks:
-You Can Make It: Strong vocals and a good message
-Georgia Women: Catchy guitar riffs from start to finish.
-Dirty Shirt: I’ll be honest I just like the analogy of Dirty Shirt to commitment and dedication.
