KOF falls into the area of Hip-hop that I tend to think of as club hop-hop. Large groups of people jumping up and down, whooping and hollering, going 'brrap brrap' whenever the bass kicks in. This is a style that I have never seen eye to eye with, being very superficial and boring to me, although most of the young people that I know seem to be lapping it up.

Bass, that deserves more than my stereo can handle, repetition, upbeat tempos, repetition, simple lyrics and more repetition make up The KOF EP. Fuzzy basslines underline scripture regarding such issues as wanting to dance, jumping, girls and listening to music. Now that I think about it, it's possible that KOF is being very post-modern, using music to discuss the nature of music, putting much playtime discussing the beat, the bass and how it would effect the listener. It's doubtful, he probably just has quite a poor imagination.

I feel like I'm not in the right atmosphere for an album like this. This album seems like it was developed in the club, cultivated in the cleavage sweat of hundreds of partially clothed, barely legal girls. If I was placed in the natural habitat of this kind of music, with bass amps from the floor to the ceiling, strobes and lasers puncturing thick smoke, being rubbed up and down by nearly naked girls, who are drunk enough to lack inhibition and with beer goggles so thick that they could go deep sea diving, I might enjoy the music. But I'm sat here, in front of my computer, listening on some slightly battered headphones, which I'm quite sure is how it's not supposed to be heard.

As far as an example of the genre, KOF seems pretty solid. There's a huge emphasis on bass, the music takes on a funky overtone which is quite enjoyable and the fast up tempo rhythm is exciting and energetic. The MC'ing is less enjoyable and punctuates whilst the enjoyable music is slaughtered by the repetitive docile lyrics that irritatingly state the obvious. Yes, we know there's a lot of bass and people will want to dance to it, we don't need you to ruin the music to tell us about it!

Most of the songs take much of the same form and there is little in the way of stylistic and thematic minutiae. While I know this does appeal to many, in certain circumstances, it's just not my brand of cupcake.

Nice new review man, liked the way you stayed un-biased and gave this a fair review.

I hate that scene "brrap". I really hate it when teenage lads talk like that. Its a disgrace to the English language. Like Tinchey Strider or whatever his name is. Fucking annoys me

@Jack: The thing is, the people who do it most, are little wannabe gangsters who live in the suburbs, or somewhere. You live in(near) Nottingham, I'm sure the people who do all the shootings don't go running around shouting brrap brrap at each other, it's the little idiot kids.

You mean Robin Hood and his Merry Men?
