WOLFMOTHER ARE BACK!

Apparantly. I am not particularly excited about it, I just thought their fans might appreciate it in bold upper case with an exclamation mark - I get the impression Wolfmother fans are like that (or would they have preferred four exclamation marks? - I feel like I've robbed them now.) Now calm down ‘Children of Wolfmother,’ I don’t hate your band, I don’t even dislike them - I just don’t share your passion.

Their self-titled debut album had some good rock songs on it, and I do remember being quite impressed back when I was sent a promo of ‘Apple Tree’ a few years back, long before I had any clue who they were. And you know what? ‘New Moon Rising’ is also a good rock track, very much in the vein of their debut material, and therefore still very much in the vein of Led Zepplin and their ilk. Wolfmother do this kind of thing well. They do it very well in fairness, that is if Led Zepplin float your...large, rigid airship made of a soft, heavy metal.

There is always a place for a straight-up rockers with more big hooks than The Fog, and Wolfmother deliver that like nobody else (well like nobody else with Wolf in their title at least.) I doubt the big, hairy, Aussie threesome will be making a Zouk album any time soon, so let’s just throw another shrimp on the barbie, crack open a VB and admire the great galas for what they do best.
