Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] 1 Attachment(s) The biggest chunk of the Australian music artists that the ‘lands up over’ actually get to hear about are either retro rock bands following the nations favourite sons, AC/DC (stand up Wolfmother and Jet), or as seems to be a whole lot more fashionable recently, electronic acts such as Cut Copy, The Presets and Empire of the Sun. I can honestly say I have never stumbled across an Aussie band whose closest contemporaries are Fountains of Wayne (well early Fountains of Wayne at least.) Or at least I hadn’t until I received Rudely Interrupted’s debut EP, “Don’t Break My Heart.” Not only does singer Rory Burnside sound uncannily like FOW front-man Chris Collingwood, but Rudely Interrupted also play a similar brand of infectious power pop, with some lovely M83-like synth lines added to shroud it all in a dreamy haze. All four tracks display the same emphasis on strong song-writing that Fountains Of Wayne once did, and it’s equally as hard not to crack a smile when you hear them. It’s an extremely promising debut from the Melbourne sextuplet, which only becomes more impressive when you find out that they met at a disabled day-care centre, as five of them suffer a range of disabilities including blindness, deafness, autism, Asperger’s syndrome and Down’s syndrome. The sixth member, Rohan Brookes, ran a music therapy course there and brought the band together, some of whose members had never even played their chosen instruments before. But then that’s Rudely Interrupted in a nutshell (not literally, they wouldn’t all fit), they challenge everyone, able bodied or not, to not only make the most of their known abilities, but discovering new ones too. For now though you’ll just be happy you discovered Rudely Interrupted. ![]() Tracklist: Green Lights In Our Dreams My Only Wish Don’t Break My Heart |
Re: Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] Fairplay this band are awesome. Go them and well done to the guy that put them all together. |
Re: Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] I particularly like the bassist - he's a proper rock star (complete with late night hotel shenanigans). |
Re: Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] Well if the photo is anything to go by the bass player is blatantly a chick. Are you doing that calling a girl a dude again? |
Re: Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] Haha - no. It's the dude on the left (Sam). She is actually the percussionist, although she does play drums and guitar in the studio. She is their human metronome apparantly. The singer has perfect pitch. Another interesting fact for you there. |
Well that photographer has completely misrepresented them then! By the way though, instruments in promo photos is so cheesy. |
Re: Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart [EP] Maybe they were just trying to confuse you. |
