Sweethead - The Great Disruptors [Single]

Sweethead - The Great Disruptors [Single]

Strange Addiction Records

The newly formed Sweethead hit you with their debut single ‘The Great Disruptors.’ Sweethead are formed of Troy Van Leuuwen of Queens of the Stone Age, Norm Block and Eddie Nappi from the Mark Lanegan Band and new to the scene vocalist Serrina Sims. On first impression the sound is good and Serrina's vocals are strong and reminiscent of Courtney love in parts. The riffs are very simple with the bass playing a straight forward part all the way through and the guitar following it most of the time whilst also augmenting it with random Queens of the Stone Age style licks interspersed here and there.

There is nothing original here, with the bands sound heavily coloured with the sounds of Sweethead’s members previous bands. The video adds a lot to the song, mainly through Serrina’s looks, which I’m not complaining about! Sweethead are currently on tour with fellow Queens of the Stone Age band mate Joey Castillo’s current touring act The Eagles Of Death Metal, who’s original drummer - also a Queens Of The Stone Age member - Josh Homme, is off with Them Crooked Vultures.

So worth a listen but the next single needs to be a lot better otherwise Sweethead will always have to live in the shadow of bands past.
