Razorbladekisses - Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar [Album]

RazorBladeKisses are in a musical world of their own. Their latest release, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar" seems to be a shinning example of their dark and twisted musical ideas that can't help but lure the listener in further.

The haunting and eerie sound of lead vocalists Layla and Azadeh seem to send the already dark sound of the album further into strange realms of creativity and experimentation. This 10 track strong release is definitely not going to appeal to everybody, and it doesn’t seem to be the idea at all here. With song titles such as 'Alice,' 'New Nightmare' and 'Toy Soldier,' it seems that the bands general ideas come from what would be typically seen as innocent, or childlike and make them as dark and twisted as humanly possible when expressed in a musical art form. As I said, this probably won’t appeal to everyone.

RazorBladeKisses express dark ideas through spooky vocals, and as you would expect, the music is no different. The overall industrial and mechanical feel and tone, provides a dark canvas upon which the strange but still intriguing vocals sit perfectly. The result of which is probably something Tim Burton would create should he ever release a rock / electronic piece of music.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar" comes with pro’s and con’s though. The main downside is that although people these days are relatively open to new musical ideas, this album will still not appeal to a large amount of people. The upside however is that there are also plenty of people out there that will appreciate "Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar" for what it is.

With the band steering away from conventional musical instruments in this creation and playing with the idea of music on a bigger scale it makes the whole thing stand out from a lot of what’s out there these days. In a great way, RazorBladeKisses are in their own musical lab unleashing their darkest creations to the world...

Acquired taste indeed. I would never have given it this higher score. Each to his own.

They've got a cool gothic lolita look.
