The Silent Years- Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park [Single]

Whilst The Silent Years second album, “The Globe”, was released in the US last year, its UK release had to wait until today, which makes the timing of the release of this single, taken from their “Let Go” EP which was released back in July, feel a little odd to us Brits. But then I don’t set their release dates, it seems I just lavish praise on the Detroit quintet.

My opinion of this track has not changed since I gushed over “Let Go” in my review, but then I didn’t really expect it to. ‘Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park’ is still a brilliant indie-pop gem; part Arcade Fire, part Envy Corps but mostly just Silent Years’ own brilliance.

Singer/guitarist Josh Epstein’s vocals are excellent throughout, especially during the song’s rousing finale and the machinegun-like guitars breaks are a nice touch, but then The Silent Years are full of nice touches – that’s what they do well. It would be nice if other bands touched you the same way.
