Bugz In The Attic have been giving their funky, broken, beat pie to the world for over a decade now. This collection of remixes is one more slice. As one of the biggest names in broken beat, Bugz In The Attic have truly led a prolific career. This collective of DJ’s and producers has been busting ass to bring their remix albums, and the occasional original, to the world audience. "Got The Bug 2," the sequel to 2004’s "Got the Bug," is perhaps the best offering yet. Broken beat is truly a strange brew amongst dance music sub genres. Combining elements of soul, funk, disco, and IDM can make an intense blend. 'Tell Him Again,' the opening track rides that mélange with gusto. Here we have all the funk tradition that we look for, and the skuzzy synth to boost it into the modern day. God, that beat! Bugz grooving into it here. Nice and tight. With barely a pause we move right into an Amy Winehouse remix, 'In My Bed.' Bringing it down a bit from the intensity of 'Tell Him Again.' 'In My bed' has a great trance piano thing going on. The beat doesn’t drop, but the mood gets a little swank. Everything on "Got the Bug 2" just flows like melting butter. From Winehouse to the super funk bass of 'Plastico.' The pop vocals of 'Oh My Gosh' to the spiritual vocal harmonies of 'Rokstone.' Let me add that this also contains the best version of 'Smooth Criminal' ever. Remixed from the J. Viewz cover, Bugz In The Attic have reconstructed the J. Viewz deconstruction and popped it out with classic, broke beat funk.
