I'm not the biggest disco fan in existence but I do like Daft Punk and loved the recent Horse Meat Disco LP so it was a little annoying to see the review of that on here being done by someone who obviously really doesn't like disco at all but anyways... rant over.

Back to the real issue of why you’re reading this and what you get on this album. It is twelve tracks of some pretty fine disco / funk tunage. Not all classics by any means but there's some hidden gems here that most of us won't have heard before in their original form excluding all you nerd collectors out there!

Tracks that get the cut n paste treatment by the French duo vary from the commercial likes of Sister Sledge and Chaka Khan to the lesser known Eddie Johns and George Duke. You can also play a little game with your friends called spot the sample - I've listened to Tata Vega's dubiously titled 'Get It Up for Love' too many times now and still haven't managed to find a recognizable sample on it from ‘Da Funk’ which kinda makes me feel like I have to keep listening to it until I find it - maybe I'm just weird like that.

Lets get one thing straight though – if this wasn’t an album full of songs we would associate with Daft Punk it would still be a damn good album regardless. Edwin Birdsong’s ‘Cola Bottle Baby’ pretty much drains itself all over Kanye or Daft Punk’s versions for me. Oliver Cheatham’s ‘Get Down Saturday Night’ would smash most house music dancefloors by the sheer strength of the vocal and the instantly recognisable bassline.

The main exception to anything that resembles disco or dance music of any sort has to be the final and probably my least favourite track on the album by Jerry Goldsmith – it sounds a bit like Kraftwerk on ketamine, but that’s just my opinion. The funked up sounds of Little Anthony & The Imperials’ ‘Can You Imagine’ wipes out any misgivings I might have about this album.

Worth a look – you’ll be a dancing in a robot suit in no time.

Hold on what? So every song on here contains some form of Daft Punk sample in it? That sounds awesome!

Yeah I wondered what the hell this was when I saw it on the list. Still not sure I fully understand it.

Not 100% about this release but I remember an album with all the songs that Daft Punk used for their Discovery album. So this must be an official release.

Tis true Daft Punk do nowt for me musically, Vocoder mince pop dressed up as something meaningful and "arty" I hear their live shows are rather spectacular but I just dont get Jean Michel Jarre circa "Zoo Look" fused with the mighty Morphin Power Rangers on acid.
Besides the vocoder is the tool of Satan

Appreciated, from what I hear their live shows are amazing because of the little white tabs that everyone seems to be taking nowadays.

I can't wait to hear Chris' reply to this one...

That's far better than Daft Punk as it has emotion and bollocks . Daft Punk often neglect to write anything I can get into and their tunes do often seem devoid of testicles and emotion at times . Personally I still think most songs sounds better without a vocoder, But then again I grew up with my sister playing that god awful Cher song, so I imagine I'm emotionally scarred

( haha I'll keep digging shall I )

I have to confess I've never listened to an entire Daft Punk album, but "One More time" and that other fella "Harder Better Faster" did my head in . "Aerodynamic" was better but I still couldnt shake the "ELP on disco biscuits view out of my head ..... Is this representative of their work, or would I enjoy other stuff ? Or am I a lost cause
