Let's face it, MGMT have a lot to answer for. Same old story, you get a band coming out with a new angle and it opens the floodgates. This isn't a surprising phenomenon, it's nothing new it's just the way it is. Most of the time it's existing artists being pushed into a corner - dance to the new sound or hit the bricks, kind of thing - so it's not surprising the music being made is terrible. Happily for French Horn Rebellion they have (on this showing) avoided the dreaded 'chancer' label.

They're just a couple of guys from the US of A with a sparkle of MDMA in their eyes and an urge to stay up all night. Ah, to be young and in love with horn rebellion! 'Up All Night' is undiluted electro-pop with added do-do-do's and a vocal that you will have you racking your brains trying to think where you have heard it before. It's disgustingly upbeat - happy as a Care Bear and just a sickly sweet - and all the better for it.

Let's be honest, you have to be in the right head space to get anything out of this kind of positive onslaught. Even the guitars thrown in are a la Daft Punk's 'Digital Love' played over the top of 'Broken Heart' which are asking you if you're dancin'.

There's an unedited version thrown in to the package as well but it doesn't add too much to the story. What you get with 'Up All Night' is a fun party track, just don't blame me if everyone at your party asks if this is the new Empire of the Sun release.
