Kitsuné - Out Dec 7th
Hoo, hoo, hoo, ha, ha - let's all sing like mad super-speedy Japanese synth-pop kittens. No? Okay then. You kids from Finland can though. Le Corps Mince De Francoise - just you mind - cos you three are the ONLY ones that can get away with this sort of thing in 2009. These three insanely irreverent girls with the heaps of whooping talent and the affecting Baltic voices have just put out a big brown paper bag full of yimpering, yampering and yollering and called it 'Something Golden' and to get the description right I had to make those words up. No, really I did, just because there's nothing else that will do justice to this noise.
Irreverent because it would be so easy to dismiss this as an un-serious pop tart, but they're just too bleeding good for that and too committed. If there is right in the world, in 3 months they will be the definition of cool anyway. It's starting to happen now already, what with playing at Paris fashion shows and the like

I was slightly more than keen to hear this. I've been following these 3 since I watched them sizzling and jumping in some sweaty Liverpool basement with a MacBook gaffer taped to a beer crate, runny paint on their faces and some stare of intent in their eyes.
Like their other recorded output, what they've got down here on wax is a completely different sport to their live game. But there again, this new one is also way different again from Ray Ban Glasses, their first notable recorded outing which is quite a few months old now.
All squeaky and high pitched, like a basket full of hyenas gone 'house,' accompanied by slithering synths. Although it's got just enough bass drive, this all lives in the top end of the spectrum with words rushing too fast to make out. For all my anticipation, this is a bit of a shock, but totally fine when it comes to it and my mind has finally adjusted to this new parameter.
"This is the last song - I said it all." Such world weariness. I really don't know about getting to that conclusion when you're as young as Le Corps Mince De Francoise - that there's just nothing left to say - but yup, I've got empathy, I've walked in those shoes too. On the other hand they also sing "We just wanted to have some fun." That'll do. Trust me on these, you'll end up a believer
If you love indie lad-rock, just forget it. If you love CSS and Crystal Castles and all that fast new fangled stuff, just try it.
The live photo is from that stellar cellar performance in Liverpool.
