Distiller Records
The Chemists are one of those bands that fit nicely into the Indie rock genre, keeping their music simple and straight to the point. "Theories of Dr. Lovelock" is a great listen, each song is a shining example of great song writing and the album as a whole seems to show us what these guys are made of.
However, "Theories of Dr.Lovelock" didn’t seem to offer anything new to music or The Chemists associated genre. Now don't get me wrong as this is actually a great record all the same. The Chemists are definitely a great rock band and are excellent at what they do. As soon as you hit play and the album kicks off you can see why they have gotten this far. But as previously stated, I am disappointed that "Theories of Dr.Lovelock" didn’t have anything that stands out from the rest of the rock bands that are out there playing all over the country.
The Chemists have created an album that boasts great musicianship and great song writing skills, but, I feel that they have probably got a massive reservoir of potential that has yet to be broken. The Chemists are definitely going to be one of the bands that you are going to see a fair bit more of in the future, and I am sure you're going to want to keep an eye on them.
But until that time, The Chemists have only shown us a small percent of what they can do with "Theories of Dr. Lovelock."
