Fueled By Ramen
Jennifer's Body is the quintessential teen movie of the moment with dark humor, just the right amount of gore, hot actors, demons and of course, some rock 'n' roll. The basic plot line is that a rock band wants to get famous so they sacrifice a girl (Megan Fox) who says she is a virgin but isn't, so the demon ends up living inside of her. Some of the more famous acts on the soundtrack include Panic at the Disco, Cobra Starship, Cute is What We Aim For and Dashboard Confessional.
Even though the trailer for Jennifer's Body played some music like 'Cherry Bomb' and 'I Know What Boys Like' those songs never made it onto the soundtrack. Also, not all the songs included in the movie made it either. Some of the heavier songs were left out like the song playing at the woods scene and a few others. This soundtrack was definitely aimed for teenage girls and there is a very commercial sound to the album.
Cobra Starship makes an appearance on the soundtrack with the appropriately titled 'Chew Me Up & Spit Me Out.' Paramore's Hayley Williams goes solo for a low key song, 'Teenagers.' The band Low Shoulder plays a catalyst part in the movie, but isn't actually a real band. It was created for movie purposes only and their hit song, 'Through The Trees,' is included. The music and lyrics of the band Low Shoulder are written by the musician, Ryan Levine. Silversun Pickups contribute 'Little Lover's So Polite,' from their first album. Screeching Weasel's offer an interesting take on 'I Can See Clearly Now.' The opening track by Florence + The Machine, 'Kiss With a Fist' gets a little whiny as does 'New in Town,' by Little Boots.
The soundtrack is a mixture of indie and alt rock with a hint of pop every so often. As a whole, the album is decent, as far as soundtracks go. There are 8 or so solid songs, which is more than can be said for most.
