Canadian electro-house superstar Joel Zimmerman, also known as the oversized mouse head wearing producer who goes by the name of Deadmau5, is back on the shelves of good music shops with his latest compilation album 4x4=12. Even months after an on stage collapse, the hard work doesn’t look like it has eased in anyway and this album shows that the hard work has indeed paid off.

The foot-stomping and the head-banging begins early with 'Some Chords,' which is a welcome treat to those who were fans of Deadmau5’ organ-led house hit Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff. The high energy fails to cease at the beginning as it moves swiftly on to the bass-heavy track 'Sofi Needs A Ladder,' which is accompanied by the sexy vocals delivered by Sofia Toufa. This isn’t the end of the collaborations. Wolfgang Gartner, another Canadian electro-house producer, gives a helping hand to create 'Animal Rights' - another track that will grab you from your seat onto the floor and then proceed to break you into a sweat.

The piano-led 'Raise Your Weapon' gets you back onto your seat as Greta Svabo Bech’s beautiful vocals leave you speechless, only to unexpectedly detour into Dubstep territory, turning beauty into a nightmare. This sets the tempo for the next track 'One Trick Pony' which is another dark and twisted Dubstep adventure, with Toufa providing the vocals for a second time - a track that reveals that there is more up this LP's sleeve than just electro house.

Deadmau5 may not be a mathematical genius, but who needs maths to produce great music?

4x4=12 ends with another signature Deadmau5 sound in 'Everything Before.' But once this signals the end of the album, you feel like something is missing, you feel like another couple of bass-heavy, head-bopping tracks would put the cherry on the cake.
