Jessie J is an undeniably talented vocalist but she has these annoying little quirks that can be off putting at times. Top of the list is that unbearable stuttering thing she does, thankfully on her latest track Domino it is nowhere to be seen.

Domino is the lead single (and sixth single overall) from the platinum edition of Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are’ album, which was recently named the biggest selling debut album of 2011. An achievement which caps off quite a year for Jessie having won the BRIT critics’ choice Award, sell out two arena tours and win four Mobos . Domino is also one of three new songs tacked onto the end of the album to get people to spend more money. Another one of these new tracks contains the words ‘featuring David Guetta’. The less said about that the better.

Jessie J is an incredibly over the top performer, priding herself on always singing live she often goes to extremes to prove her vocal ability, screaming at the top of her lungs, pulling faces and acting out every lyric to the song. This is something that is evident in the garishly colourful video for Domino.

The song itself is probably the most straight up pop song she has released so far and if it wasn’t for her distinctive voice you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a Katy Perry track. This is down to the song being produced by Doctor Luke who is responsible for much of Perry’s Teenage Dream album.
The track has element of Perry’s Firework and California Dream singles and does little to distinguish Jessie from the various female pop stars of the moment. This could’ve been a Katy Perry song or even a Britney Spears or Kesha track.

Being a supporter of Jessie despite all her annoying habits this track is somewhat disappointing, it is not terrible nor is it great it languishes somewhere in between, not instantly memorable or forgettable just somehow ‘there’. She can do better.
