General Fiasco’s troops marched through the second half of 2011 with a fanfare worthy of war heroes. Sgt. Owen Strathern (vocals/bass), Lt. Enda Strathern (Guitar), and Pvt. Stephen Leacock (drums) and new Cadet Stuart Bell (guitar) have all fulfilled their mission, with assistance from Huw Stephens as he named ‘The Age You Start Losing Friends’ the Hottest Record In The World.
The regiment have continued their tour of duty and have confirmed their plans to release their second album this summer. In the meantime they have unveiled their new single ‘Don’t You Ever’, due to be released at the end of February.
The tune is classic General Fiasco. With the indie melodies, powerful drumming and whiney vocals the band’s trademarks are there, in a good way. It starts with a powerful, but hesitant drum break and builds in to a diluted chorus before returning as a stronger force later in the song. The newest addition to the brigade is fitting right in as the song features a strong (rare for indie music) guitar solo, in this three-minute delight of a track.

From the Waves EP released before Christmas, through their heavy touring schedule out in the fields, General Fiasco are advancing quickly to secure a a good position for themselves. If the forthcoming album reaches a similar level of success the group regiment will hear cheers and see salutes from civilians across the homeland.
