The Hyena Kill cite influences such as Warpaint, Helmet, Tori Amos, Deftones, Tool and Smashing Pumpkins in their bio, now I am no Inspector Morse by any stretch of the imagination, but certain clues lead me to believe that at least one of the band carries a torch for legendary 'Shotgun botherer' Kurt Cobain and his fellow Grunge god fathers Nirvana. The main clues being lead singer/guitarist Steven Dobb sporting the battered converse and stripy jumper in a video shot in near enough the same grainy tones as 'Smells like teen spirit'.

All is forgiven for these dopplegangerisms once the steady Deftones beats kick in courtesy of drummer Lorna Blundell shortly joined by some choice string plucking from Dobb whose vocals stray into that dreaded Chad Kroeger/Bush's Gavin Rossdale territory now and again, and yet this can also be forgiven once that voice is joined by the angelic notes of guest vocalist Sally Mason. The riffs from Dobb's guitar add enough bite to keep things interesting and from going a bit Staind (oops just done a little sick in my mouth there, sorry). Someone needs to tell Ollie Smith to turn his Bass up though, c'mon guy we need to hear it.
These young mancunians aren't exactly breaking boundaries or making history here, but, they do show enough promise between them to keep an on though.
