The dance duo that brought us tracks like 'Night on Fire' and 'You Got Me' return with a more chilled out take on their 2011 effort 'Diamonds and Death'.
The 'Diamonds and Dub' single has a good pace, with good production values, but it falls too much in between genres without ever sounding overtly original. Whilst true dub fans will bemoan the lack of focus on drums and bass that made acts like King Tubby and Mad Professor such as joy to listen to, fans of VHS or Beta's previous work will yearn for something more upbeat and with more of a pace.
The inclusion of several techno characteristics will also put off the true dub fans, and it's hard to believe that 'Diamonds and Dub' would go down better in a club than its original, which for me, showed more flair and will hold your interest for longer.
In summary, not a terrible track, but the VHS boys are best off sticking to what they do best.
