The Boathouse is a popular hangout spot in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where both locals and tourists come together under one roof for a night of pure enjoyment. Known for their casual atmosphere, their live musical events, and their wonderful location (on the Intracoastal Waterway), The Boathouse is a place that many of all ages can enjoy. Throughout the summer, every Sunday, The Boathouse celebrates “Sunday Fun Day”, and what better way to celebrate a Sunday than to be at a FREE live concert. Yes that is right; each concert is free for all ages!

On this particular Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 the ‘Summer Concert Series’ continued with a night that brought in many. Fans of all ages gathered before the waterway to see Namesake, Sparks The Rescue, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. First of all, you cannot get off on the wrong foot by attending/playing a concert outside on a waterway. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. South Carolina’s warm weather greeted each member of the three bands with open arms. Boats of all different sizes were pulling over near the docks to see what was going on at this waterway bar and grill. And, instead of leaving they laid out on their boats listening to a phenomenal concert.

Up first was Atlanta-based band, Namesake, who brought a stellar pop-punk performance to the stage. Not many in the crowd were familiar with their set, but that does not mean that the crowd did not enjoy these boys. Their songs were catchy, their energy was high, and overall they put on a great live performance. Their vocals sounded on cue, the instrumentals were on point, and many would agree that Namesake is a talented band, as well as a great opening act.

Many crowd members were sold on their performance and even expressed interest in purchasing a CD of theirs to become even more familiar with their music. Give these boys a few more months of touring and they will have secured a reputable name for themselves for sure.

Second up was Maine-based Sparks The Rescue. From their first song until their last song, Sparks The Rescue brought the 'it'-factor. They kept the crowd on their feet, their hands raised up high in the air, and they are to blame for many lost voices after the night came to an end. Popular songs of the night were ‘She’s a Bitch, And I’m A Fool’ and ‘We Love Like Vampires’, as the crowd seemed to go crazy (which may even be an understatement) during these two song numbers.

Lead singer, Alex Roy has stunning front-man stage presence. Roy displays much confidence as he bounces around from one side of the stage to the next or as he climbs up and hangs off of things. He has this look in his eye that makes the fan girls all giddy and scream their heads off. This must-see act is quite the crowd pleaser.

Full of high energy, wild behavior, and upbeat personality Sparks The Rescue’s performance was a thrilling one. Sparks The Rescue raised the energy bar high, and prepared the crowd for headlining act, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus!

As Ronnie Winter and the rest of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus took the stage the crowd was screaming with anticipation of what stood before them and what was about to occur right before their eyes. Opening their set was popular song, ‘False Pretense’, from their debut album, Don’t You Fake It. As the first few notes from this song began to be played, the energy from the crowd hit a whole new level. The crowd was not the only ones who were full of hype; RJA generated just as much energy themselves. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have a way with keeping their crowd entertained throughout their energetic and passionate live performance.

WATCH// 'Damn Regret'

Popular songs of the night were ‘Angel In Disguise’,‘Your Guardian Angel’, ‘Damn Regret’, and ‘You Better Pray’. Each song was powerful, passionate, and well-rehearsed. And of course, ending the night on a high note was the ever so popular favorite hit, ‘Face Down’, where the crowd went even more nuts. This song was highly anticipated. In fact, throughout their entire set fans could be heard shouting “Play ‘Face Down’ next!”but as expected their number one hit was indeed their set closer.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus put on a phenomenal show and their set was highly enjoyable. From start to finish, the show was solid and a clear presentation of what a great performance should look and sound like. With memorable hooks, guitar riffs, drum beats, and upbeat vocals The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus kept their word by providing Myrtle Beach with a night to remember.

For a free event, these acts sure treated this show like any other paying show. They entered the stage full of energy and they left the stage with more sweat than ever, and it was not just from the hot beaming sun. Overall, this concert deserves a rave review. Namesake, Sparks The Rescue, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus are three must-see acts to catch live.
