On Tuesday, June 26th, 2012 Hollywood Blvd was shut down for Katy Perry’s Part of Me movie premiere. Katy Perry also performed live. Thanks to Pepsi and Billboard’s ‘Summer Concert Series’ this event was being broadcast live from coast to coast. Part of Me is a documentary that takes a deeper look into the starlets life on and off the stage. From her journey’s very beginning until where Katy Perry is today, Part of Me gives the viewer an insight into Katy Perry and who she truly is as a person. Part of Me shows both the lows and the highs of Katy Perry's career and also of her personal life.
Looking absolutely stunning in a red velvet dress and matching heels, Katy Perry made her entrance onto her pink carpet for her Hollywood Premiere. Joined by many, such as co-directors Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, in addition to other current hit superstars such as Victoria Justice, Selena Gomez, and Carly Rae Jepsen, Katy Perry made her way down the glitzy pink carpet before she graced the stage that awaited her. Standing before her, outside of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre venue was a massive amount of fans.
Emerging from a giant popcorn container, Katy Perry took the stage wearing a completely different outfit choice in comparison to the outfit she wore on the pink carpet. Sporting typically quirky Katy Perry attire, from head to toe Katy Perry looked quite impressive. Her film-themed dress along with her film-reel bra, waistband, and giant popcorn detail throughout her skirt successfully promoted her upcoming movie.
Opening with popular hit ‘Hot ‘N Cold,’ Katy Perry bounced around on stage in sync with her well-choreographed dancers. Katy Perry’s popcorn skirt did not last long as she whipped it off during her performance, revealing a pair of high-waisted pants with a candy decorated undergarment. Following 'Hot ‘N Cold' was yet another popular hit, ‘Teenage Dream.’
Katy Perry’s stage was well decorated. The lollipops located throughout the stage were so awesome! Even the costumes of her dancers matched the typical Katy Perry style. The light show was nicely displayed and worked well with the overall run of Katy Perry’s performance. Fog machines, bubbles, plastic balls, and pink streamers complemented Katy Perry’s performance and had the crowd going nuts. The stage was huge! Not only could Katy Perry be found bouncing around on the stage but, there was also a runway that allowed Katy Perry to run out and reach the middle of her crowd.
Vocally Katy Perry sounded great! Other popular songs of the night were her debut popular hit, ‘I Kissed A Girl,’ as well as the movie-titled hit, ‘Part of Me,’ and of course the bubbly pop track, ‘California Gurls.’ Other songs performed worth mentioning are 'Firework', 'Wide Awake' and 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' as these songs also had high crowd participation when it came to singing along. Each of these songs, as well as every song Katy Perry performed for that matter generated much excitement from both the crowd, Katy Perry’s dancers, and of course from Katy Perry herself!
Katy Perry'smesssage to her fans is to let them know that life is not easy, but if you do not give up, and, as long as you are always true to yourself and follow your dreams anything can happen. She made sure her message was clear before she exited the stage for the night.
Overall, Katy Perry’smovie-themed performance was definitely poppin’. To get the full behind-the-scenes look of Katy Perry’s life, be sure to go see “Katy Perry: Part of Me” once it hits theatres on July 5th.
