Now a two-piece, New York dreampop band School of Seven Bells
consists of guitarist Benjamin Curtis and guitarist/vocalist Alejandra Deheza. They were accompanied on stage by a drummer and keyboard player. The set was made up predominantly of songs from current album Ghostory
, with a couple from each of their two earlier albums Alpinisms
and Disconnect From Desire
. The set was performed under strong red lights (which made photographing difficult!). Whilst Benjamin’s guitar playing and twiddling-knob wizardry created the all round deep and complex sound, it was Alejandra’s ethereal vocals that captivated the crowd.
