Dee Dee, Jules, Sandy and Malia aka Dream Pop Princess's of darkness Dum Dum Girls return towards the back end of this month with End Of Daze. A five track EP which sees the ladies on sparkling lyrical form along with the now trademarked muted, fuzzed out riot grrrl 'gazing and heart tugging dark melodies.

Dum Dum Girls were originally the work of just Dee Dee (or more formally New York resident Kristen Gundred) however after early works needed touring, Dee Dee found that a band would be needed. This early band incarnation, which featured amongst its number Frankie Rose (of 'And The Outs' fame) released debut album I Will Be (2010) to critical acclaim, showcasing the girls take on '60's girl pop mashed together via punk, goth rock and 80's alt-pop'. Second long player, Only In Dreams (2011) saw Bambi and Rose depart for their own projects and in came Sandy and Malia.

End Of Daze has the four piece maturing and honing those early riot grrrl sensibilities, Dee Dee's voice sounds dreamier than ever. It is a dark, disturbing dream however when mixed with lyrics of death, joy, pain, longing and full circle towards rebirth.

'Mine Tonight' reveals itself to be Dee Dee's own eulogy, backed by a funeral march of bass and drums. 'I Got Nothing' sounds exactly like the band that Yeah Yeah Yeah's wish they still were. Dropped into the middle of the five tracks we are treated to a cover of Scottish new wavers Strawberry Switchblade's 'Trees and Flowers,' albeit a more stoned version; shrouded in reverb and hazy vocal clouds.

'Lord Knows' brings on the Cocteau Twins flavour, if they had been brought up on a diet of Temazepam and The Shangri-La's. Closing proceedings is the stunning 'Season In Hell', sounding like The Cure fronted by Chrissie Hynde which, incidentally is a just as great as it reads.

The lovely generous Dee Dee and co have let us lot have a sneaky peak of the EP through this stream, get on it then go by it.

End Of Daze is released 25th September through Sub Pop
