Let's get this out of the way first; Festival No. 6 is one of the most ambitious festivals to open in years and, if this year's success is anything to go by will be a permanent fixture in the festival calendar.

Set in the “magical village of Portmeirion” as the organisers would have it, there are many stages in the main area hosting the more traditional side of the festival, but a walk through the woods takes you to the village where the spoken word is held and the incredible Welsh male voice choir belt out the most moving pieces you’ll ever hear, including a cover of New Order's Blue Monday. As one of the clientele has it: “it will blow your fucking mind”. He could just as well be referring to the festival as a whole, not just the men in the Piazza moving many to tears.

The music line up is, for those with certain tastes, pretty overwhelming, especially if you want to catch them all. But we start with Eugene McGuiness on the Festival No. 6 Stage.

His bespoke threads and immaculate quiff are sure to put most people to shame but in front of a festival crowd he's easily the best dressed man in a good 2 mile radius.

When Richard Hawley takes to the stage the place has filled up and in full swing.

One of the first references of the weekend to the Hillsborough disaster has Hawley dedicating 'Leave Your Body Behind You' to the “despicable cunts who have been lying to us about Hillsborough.

If you really wanted to barbeque your head then the next stop was Spiritualized headlining the main stage.

The usual gospel tinged, euphoric set was unleashed with
'Hey Jane' a droning, heads down, hands down highlight.

Just before the DJ sets took us to 3am the strains of 'Time For Heroes' drew straggling Libertines fans who hadn’t managed to catch their film over to The Sonic Cinema stage to watch Carl Barât struggle gamely through a rough set of Libertines classics.

This late night surprise was only slightly marred by the fact he couldn’t remember the words to his most famous songs. Regardless of this his charm and the fans voices carried him through to a triumphant and sorry, rather fitting, 'What a Waster.'
