Sunday at Festival No 6 brought the torrential rain and wind. Most had hit it hard by this point but everyone was bravely battling through and the daily Human Chess games which punctuated each day kept things going. Not to mention that once again we could look forward to marvelling at the Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir in The Piazza. See below for a piece of their work, New Order's 'Blue Monday':
Those boys can party too.
Field Music were too gentle to take us through the last day and their 70's prog rock stylings had us running from the stage.
Gruff Rhys was at a similar pace but his Welsh chit chat, charm and melodies were enough to lift us from the mire Field Music had ditched us in.
Everything Everything were a revelation, or a "force of nature" as Mark Riley would have it, the 6 Music representative introducing the four piece to the main stage, who were resplendent in matching boiler suits.
If you've seen New Order you've probably seen them do 'Blue Monday' and they do not disappoint today. All the boys are sporting Prisoner blazers in homage to the location where the TV series was filmed.
Throughout the set Bernard’s whistling, whooping and dancing are cringeworthy and endearing in equal parts but the crowd laps it up and it's like a rave for the elderly.
The inaugural Festival Number 6 was a triumphant success. In a bevy of festivals offered in the UK, this, the last of the festival season, stands out. The unique, out of the way location brings not only a magical aspect to proceedings but the ability to dance until 03:00. With any luck and hopefully minus the rain, this cracking new addition will be back next year.
