Almost exactly one year to the day, the Godfather of shock rock Alice Cooper brings his annual Halloween “Night of Fear” back to our shores. A deluge of fans mostly adorned in make up and fancy dress either emulating their hero, or of some ghoulish nature descend on the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Alice Cooper is often imitated but never equalled and tonight Alice Cooper treated his audience of all ages to a classic Alice Cooper theatrical experience, and took everyone into his sinister wonderland. Opening with “Hello Hooray” under a cascading wall of sparks, Alice entertained his fans in a non-stop two hour long performance, with more costume changes than Lady Gaga has!

Not many young bands could keep up with the 64 year olds pace tonight, Alice Cooper was on fire! He raced through his 2 hour show playing set staples “No More Mr Nice Guy”, “Poison”, “Eighteen”, and “Billion Dollar Babies”.

The Gallows, Guillotine, and Snake have gone this year, but did “Bring The Dead Back to Life” as he put it, with a tribute of fine Cooperised classic covers of his departed friends, from Jimi Hendrix (Foxy Lady) in which Orianthi shredded a blistering solo on her blood splattered PRS guitar, to John Lennon (Revolution), Jim Morrison (Break on Through) and Keith Moon (My Generation).

From Alice Cooper's own collection was a nice surprise in “He's Back (The Man behind the Mask)” which had its first airing since 2002. Other than that the classics rolled on and shook the Civic rafters. “Feed My Frankenstein” was played complete with a 20 foot tall monster, “Hey Stoopid,” “The Ballard of Dwight Fry” and “Welcome to my Nightmare” sat seamlessly along side new tracks “Bite Your Face Off”, “Caffeine” and “The Congregation”.

Obviously no show would be complete without “Schools Out” and as confetti canons explode and balloons fall from the ceiling it brought the Halloween party to a fantastic climax.

One word sums tonight up…superb!
