Never before has the phrase 'don't judge a book by it's cover' been so appropriate than with my initial impression of Alex Kelly. I was fully expecting some sickly sweet pop tripe but actually what Alex Kelly offers with 'Catalyst' is a pounding rhythmic electro-pop track that I can't seem to get out of my head!

WATCH // Alex Kelly - 'Catalyst'

The drum heavy track starts with a B-52's 'Love Shack' reminiscent intro but then soon dissipates into a plucking synth riff a Alex's vocals come into play as she seductively sings about her new found sexual revolution with her current lover...good for her I say! Her vocals are purringly sexy and even when a vocal effect is laid over them it doesn't take away from her strong voice, but really adds to the song and its seduction.

Speaking of seduction, the video, if a little cliché, is smoking as is Alex herself. She certainly knows how to work the cameras and entices her way through; not a bad thing in any way, we all know that sex sells...and when you're as hot as Alex (I'm reminded of a grittier Sarah Shahi - The L Word's Carmen) if you've got it flaunt it!

At a time when girls are starting to take back electro-pop-rock from the boys this is a great effort from Alex Kelly to add to the ammunition. She's certainly someone I'll be keeping an eye on, I've got high expectations for the New York native.

If you're state-side and you're quick you can catch Alex in New York
