Lola Ray - I Don't Know You

With the plethora of albums that have been bombarding us over the last year its easy to miss the “diamonds in the rough”. A few slip under the radar and pretty much go unheard of. Which brings me to Lola Ray’s album I Don’t Know You. When I heard the first song (Plague..) off this CD I was very impressed and I also could tell this band knew exactly what direction they were going music wise. Their sound is hard to describe and the lyrics can be puzzling at times but they make it work very well.

This is the kind of album you will want to put in when you are sick of everything else. It’s the kind of sound that will get your feet bouncing and your brain churning. You will definitely find yourself singing along after you have had a chance to dissect what it is they are actually singing about. Also, they have been able to incorporate a very well balanced variety of songs in that right when you get tired of the fast paced music and feel out of breath from singing you get a well deserved break, meaning they slow things down with some catchy lyrics mixed with a calm drum that sooths the ears.

This album is far from perfect, but you can see that forms of perfection are definitely present throughout the entire CD. This is worth owning for sure, and like I said before is nice to have around when you get tired of everything else that blends together in a musical mess.
