Lamb Of God - Killadelphia (DVD - Epic Records)

Boys and girls, welcome to The Art of Lamb Of God. If you are a diehard Lamb Of God fan, you probably already have this DVD. If you're not, just go pick up 'Killadelphia' and you will become a diehard fan. That much I can guarantee you. Performance-wise, Lamb Of God come out with all guns blazing in some amazing concert footage that was taped at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, PA in October of '04. The LoG guys never let up and prove why they are one of the frontrunners in the new wave of american heavy metal. This concert footage leaves no stone unturned. From their debut "New American Gospel", on up to "Ashes Of The Wake", every machine gun riff, every searing solo, every blood-curdling scream is in there and it doesn't disapoint. Highlights from the concert inclue "Omerta", "Terror And Hubris In The House of Frank Pollard", "Black Label", "11th Hour", and "Ruin". Simply put, I'd like to see another band around that could come close to the brutality that Lamb Of God spew forth when they step on stage. I don't think many could match it.

The "behind the scenes" section of the DVD is just as entertaining, if not moreso, than the concert footage. Its got the usual soundcheck bits, autograph signings, candid interviews, and overall band hijinks that most home videos have, but "Killadelphia" delves even further and reveals a darker side of the five men that make up Lamb Of God. Alcohol, sickness, broken down equipment trucks, its all there. Probably the most startling is all out drunken brawl between guitarist Mark Mortensen and vocalist Randy Blythe. Never has something so brash, disheartening, and violent been included on a band DVD. They show it all....black eyes and bloody noses, its in there. It really shows the vulnerability and humility that even a well oiled, mass metal machine has while out on the road. It brings them down to a street level and makes everything that much more relatable to the fan, and in a way I can totally understand why they'd leave that in.

Lamb Of God really go out of their way to introduce themselves to you and really let you in on how life goes down in their world. If you want to be entertained and blown away then the choice is clear. Pick this up this DVD and crank the volume as high as it will go.
