Artist: Kings X
Album: Ogre Tones
Label: Inside Out
Release Date: 09/27/2005
King’s X are back with their new release "Ogre Tones on Inside Out Records. The bands first album came back in 1988 with "Out of the Silent Planet and with that release they haven’t looked back. Doug Pinnick is the mastermind behind King’s X. In 1990, he was asked to replace Ian Gillian as the lead vocalist of Deep Purple and he declined, he also did guest vocals on Dream Theatre’s "Falling Into Infinity album.
King’s X have never received the real acclaim that they deserve and are often compared to a modern day Beatles. The band did have some US radio airplay in the early days and they did extensive touring but never reached the dizzzy heights of success that some of the bands that emerged around the same time enjoyed. The new release, "Ogre Tones, is an exceptional release and one that I feel will be taken to heart by fans of the band, however, I feel King’s X still does not have that element that will bring them the wider attention they deserve. Songs like "If, "Bebop and "Honesty are classic tunes that do reak of Beatles influences and their writing ability is fine-tuned and should be given a chance to be heard.
