Some Girls...the San Diego power house of noise and no-frills hardcore releases its first new CD in ages...if you got ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING DEATH (or THE BLUES, or THE RAINS 7"s) then you know what you are in store for. For the uninitiated, SG is made up of (former and current, respectively) members of Give Up The Ghost, The Locust, Unbroken, and Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower...and it will punch you in the balls with something spiky...the opening track I NEED DRUGS opens with a weird feedback-like chord check, and then just grabs said balls and pulls you along for the ride...It is unrelenting in power and speed, but not too fast, just fast enough...it is still NO FRILLS HARDCORE, with just enough art-punk sensibility to keep the hipsters happy...this is only topped with Karen-O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) lending her vocals to the title track...this is only a few minutes total, and that’s the only major downside, and it takes FOREVER to get these guys to put out new stuff, but is really worth the wait, HEAVENS PREGNANT TEENS will be out on Epitaph soon, I hope, till then, rock this sucka.
